Recognizing, Olive Lazio on Memorial Day is a celebration of a remarkable woman who embodies resilience, dedication, and unwavering patriotism. Olive’s journey as a Navy nurse in the groundbreaking WAVES division during WWII, caring for wounded soldiers at the forefront of medical innovation in Bethesda, Maryland, is truly inspirational. As she approaches her 100th birthday, Olive stands as a living testament to the sacrifices and contributions of the less than 1% of WWII veterans still with us today. Her legacy of service extends beyond her military days, as she continued to work tirelessly well into her 90s and remains an active member of the Good Samaritan Guild. Olive’s devotion to her country and community, alongside her late husband’s military service, paints a picture of a family deeply rooted in honor and duty. Let us pay tribute to Olive Lazio, a beacon of strength and a shining example of selfless service.
